Five on Friday: Frozen in February

1. Snow Daze

Can someone please explain how yesterday was full of snow and sleet and one week later the high is going to be 70 degrees?! Craziness, I tell ya. I mean, I'm not complaining- I love snow days, and if it's not snowing, I definitely love the warm sunshine! Clemson didn't cancel classes on the first snowy day, but as soon as it turned to freezing rain, it was game over! No classes Wednesday and Thursday- I don't hate it! (Although I have to makeup a test outside of class time, complete a group discussion outside of class time, and write a midterm... But whatever, I'm not bitter at all over it.)

The snow started melting fast today, but I made my mark while I still had time!

John came over! He kind of regretted making the trek while it was sleeting (poor guy!), but I was so glad he played it safe- snow is NBD, but lots of ice? No bueno for driving.

2. Olympics
I know, I know... These rings are completely inaccurate, but until Lifesaver provides a wider variety of colors, this is as good as it's gonna get!

Y'all, my love for the Olympics is pretty much unparalleled to any other televised sporting thing ever. All the patriotism, heartwarming stories, and coming together with all the other countries... You can't beat it, am I right? I'll be honest: I'm generally bored with lots of the events, but it's worth watching the whole primetime broadcast just to see all the skating events! John finds it insanely boring, but any form of ice skating, ice dancing, pairs, individuals... I'm there, and I'm captivated!

3. Beach Style.

So pretty much the exact opposite of the Winter Olympics: summer stuff. Like I said earlier, I cannot wait for this warmer weather in SC's forecast! If you don't believe me, just go by my latest purchase: sunglasses! I've had one pair of shades (some classic Rayban Wayfarers) for the past four years, but I've always wished I could pull off aviators. Sadly, I don't have a "sunglasses face" (or a "hat head"... how is that fair?!) so I've avoided them. Thankfully, I found an inexpensive pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction aviators at TJ Maxx that I didn't hate! And they were less than $15! And I had a gift card! Score!
Those sunglasses got me dreaming of being somewhere sunny and seventy-five (Joe Nichols, anyone?), so I made a little aviator-inspired collection of some of my favorite suits, sandals, and beach towels (seriously, I'm border-line obsessed with the coral monogrammed towel!). As excited as I am about summer and warmer weather and laying out by the water, I'm also dreading it. Because if I don't whip my booty into shape soon, it's going to be ugly. Which leads me to four...

4. The Truth Hurts.
Ouch.

I'm just going to come right out and say it... Recently, I've been eating like a freaking pig. I'm talking, so much food I've gained five pounds since the beginning of January even though I've been running over twenty miles a week. If I'm running almost a 5K per day, I should not be gaining weight. Obviously I haven't been treating my body with respect, and that's just not okay. (Why do I have to make this revelation the day before Valentine's Day candy is 75% off?! Wahhh!)
5. Happy Valentine's Day!
Muah!

Whether you're single, taken, or somewhere in between, I hope you have a lovely day and weekend!

  1. Your boots and leggings are the cutest, along with that picture of you and your boy for #5. Those Olympic cupcakes are adorable, and if you wouldn't have mentioned it I wouldn't have even noticed the rings being the wrong colors. And speaking if the Olympics I'm right there with you, the other sports can capture my attention for a little bit but as soon as any of the figure skating comes on I'm glued. Happy valentines day girl!
